Part of the fun of going on vacations is the planning stage: Where shall I travel? What do I want to do? Will I be safe there? Searching for the perfect destination is fun, and putting the strings together for a unique vacation is even more fun. However, finding a destination that offers several different settings close by is not always easy, and most of the time, you have to compromise part of your dreamed up experience because it simply is not compatible with the other part of your dream destination.
I recently traveled to the beautiful island of Roatan in the Caribbean. Until recently, most people had never heard of this island. Heck, most people have actually never heard of it despite the fact that it has become an important port of call for many different cruise ship lines.
Roatan is part of a small, little known archipelago (set of islands) in the northwestern Caribbean known as the Bay Islands of Honduras. They belong to the Central American country of Honduras, and are only 20 miles off the Coast of Central America. Getting to Roatan is very easy: American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Avianca all offer non stop air service from the USA to Roatan. Located within two and a half hours flight of Miami, Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta, flying to Roatan is both easy, quick and affordable. Best of all, although the official language in Honduras is Spanish, everybody speaks English in Roatan!
Roatan is a small, long island, with a total of about 40 miles long, it is only 4 miles wide at its widest! There are still many small seaside communities that retain their authentic Caribbean architecture. In addition, beautiful and pristine white sand beaches, small island resorts, and outstanding diving in the barrier reefs that surround the island offer an idyllic setting to relax, enjoy, get scuba certified and have fine food and ice cold beer at the beach.
Nearby Roatan you will find mainland Central America. The port city of La Ceiba, once home to the Dole Fruit headquarters in Honduras, offers a truly unique setting in the nearby Cangrejal River Valley. Travel time there from Roatan is a short two hour trip, beginning with the modern water jet catamaran ferry: Galaxy Wave that will bring you in full comfort from Roatan to La Ceiba in an hour and a half, and then a short 30 minute taxi drive the Cangrejal River Valley.
The Cangrejal River Valley offers access to two different national parks, outstanding hiking trails into some of the best preserved tropical rain forests in Central America, the best white water rafting in the Caribbean and Central America and the best spot for bird watching in Honduras. The Cangrejal River Valley is one of the highlights of the Atlantida, the unique Honduras destination that offers the access to the best of Central America and the Caribbean. There you will find a variety of different lodges and inns that will make you stay absolutely perfect. The perfect vacation can be had in Honduras by visiting both Roatan and the Cangrejal River Valley in La Ceiba.
Roatan is the perfect alternative for a laid back Caribbean Experience, La Ceiba is the ideal destination for adventure and nature vacation! Yes you can have two totally different experiences in one trip by combining these two destinations. Truly the ideal combination for a perfect vacation!

Nestled in the heart of the Americas, in the beautiful country of Honduras, you will find the largest botanical garden in the Americas: Lancetilla Botanical Garden. Its name comes from one of the local plants that is quite abundant here: the Lancetilla Palm, a lovely tropical palm tree that is protected by a nasty set of thorns that keep it away from the menu of the diverse local animals, as well as off the roofs of the thatched palms that locals build.
Lancetilla Botanical Gardens is located in the lovely destination of Atlantida, right in the heart of Central America's Caribbean Coast, jus t outside the city of Tela. Atlantida, was the actually created as a department (local equivalent to a state of province) to facilitate the activities of two large fruit companies that established themselves in the area at the beginning of the Twentieth Century: The Vaccaro Brothers Company, which later became the Standard Fruit Company, and the Tela Railroad Company, which is part of the United Fruit Brands. The first had its operational and administrative hub in the city of La Ceiba, and the latter in the city of Tela.
As part of an effort to find different fruits that would be a profitable produce to export, the Tela Railroad Company established a center for investigation and created what today is known as Lancetilla Botanical Garden. Here, a large collection of exotic fruit trees from Central and South America, as well as Asia, Africa and even Oceania was put together, with experimental plantations of several of them, including the absolutely delicious Mangosteen and Rambutan from southeast Asia. Get acquainted with the over 16 different species of palms that form part of the local collection, and walk under the tunnel that the giant spiny bamboo forms at the end of the trail.
Today Lancetilla Botanical Garden is managed by the ESNACIFOR, which stands for National School of Forest Sciences, whose headquarters is in the City of Siguatepeque, in the department of Comayagua. The Gardens are open to the public year round, and have a nice, well kept trail and great guides that will make exploring the largest botanical garden in the Americas a truly learning experience.
Lancetilla Botanical Gardens is also a great place for birdwatchers, because the abundance of tropical fruits make it a site that naturally attracts birds of different species who thrive on the abundance of food in the area.
Plan on spending at least three or four hours in the garden, but make sure you bring some insect repellent with you, as a large part of this tropical garden is covered with a dense jungle that makes mosquitoes thrive!
Lancetilla is but one of the many different nature and educational activities that you can enjoy in Atlantida, which is probably the most complete destination of its sort in the World, certainly in Central America.

Two of the most difficult aspects of accomplishing goals and being successful are gaining and maintaining a focus, and overcoming fear. Here are eight observations and recommendations on how to do it:
1. You must first have a vision for what the end result will look like. Begin with the end in mind, and know where you are going and determine how to get there. The 19th century author Lewis Carrol once wrote "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." A few years later in the 1900s the baseball Hall of Fame great Yogi Berra misquoted Carrol when he said, "If you don't know where you're going you'll end up somewhere else." Either statement emphasizes the importance of having a plan for reaching your goal.
2. A dream or goal is like a plant: give it nutrients and it will thrive; starve it and it will die. You must have a deep commitment to your dream to reach your goal, which can be a lengthy process requiring continuous feeding and attention.
3. To become focused on the task at hand, first estimate the size of the undertaking. By focusing on the long-term goal and estimating the distance to get there you will also be taking the first steps for alleviating fear that may occur.
4. Knowledge is power. A large amount of fear can be diminished by simply increasing your knowledge about the problem. By equipping yourself with knowledge, even as daunting as obtaining the results may appear, you will begin operating from a position of strength to overcome.
5. Embrace the fact that you have made plans for accomplishing you goal, which should include plans for handling challenges resulting from change. Do not fear change. Make adjustments in your approach as you move toward your goal. As long as you are advancing toward your goal you're moving in the right direction. Meet problems head-on, don't run from them.
6. Recognize that fear will be overcome when it occurs, not in advance. You can't remove fear in advance, but you can prepare yourself to effectively deal with fear should experience it.
7. If you get stymied, the best tactic is to just do something. Doing something about the problem will dislodge your attitude so you can regroup and move forward or in another direction if necessary. It's amazing what taking action will do to redirect your thoughts. Your direction may be straight ahead or a complete change.
8. Look for two-for-one opportunities. With reference to this discussion, two-for-one benefits are gained when the actions you take result in both overcoming the fear and the advancement toward your goal.
To illustrate, if you try to cross the Mississippi River by swimming you will not only get across the river, you will also end up downstream because of the river current. Therefore, you've accomplished two things at once. You moved a distance down the river and you made it to the other side.
When you train yourself to use these techniques and identify opportunities to use them you will be better equipped to overcome fear and improve your focus. It may be the difference in obtaining your goals and falling short. Learning to use these tips may assist with fear in other areas of life as well as increasing productivity.

The term "addictive behavior" is frequently associated with substance abuse of prescription or illicit drugs or alcohol dependency. However, for those who are prone to those behaviors, most any substance or activity can become addictive, or habit-forming, if repeated ongoing. Overcoming addictions can be a difficult, lengthy ordeal.
The psychology behind addictive behaviors is not easily understood, although addiction is a dilemma for millions who struggle with it daily. Facing the stark realities of dealing with addiction is a difficult proposition, and treatment is best approached in phases. It's a process that requires training and execution over a period of time for lasting results, and fortunately there are effective treatment methods that are administrated in step-by-step manner.
Rehabilitation programs are usually the place where life changes begin for a person who is enslaved to destructive addiction. Treatment programs typically focus on the addicted individual's thought patterns as well as creating behavioral changes, encouraging exercise, and an improved diet. Additionally, other techniques will be administered that will assist with independence from the addiction. While these aspects are important for rehabilitation, they are only the beginning of work to be done.
For the patient, the hardest part of the rehabilitation lies beyond the initial treatment. It is most difficult when alone and depending on self to maintain the advantage that has been gained during phase one. It's much easier to stay sober when a person is supervised and functioning in a controlled environment, more than when free to make unsupervised choices. Having the will to stay true to rehabilitation is where life changing advancement occurs.
Some believe the best place to find strength for the weakness is dependence on a Supreme power. Every person needs strength, whether a weakness of addiction is present or not. Knowing that a higher source provides strength lays a foundation to continue the struggle. The knowledge of having ongoing support helps relieve the anxiety that's often associated with breaking addictions, as well as life's other struggles.
Aside from spiritual matters, having a trusted support structure is just as important for strength during rehabilitation. A mutual concern for others who are interested in your well-being creates a desire to be accountable for them and to them, and to adhere to a treatment program for behavior problems.
By engaging in a process that includes guidance and assistance the addictive behaviors can be conquered. The change process is not easy, but the resulting freedom, solace and satisfaction is of immeasurable worth. Life is too precious to be thrown away with addictions, especially when solutions are available.

There is more to keeping your job than knowing how to perform the job requirements. One area of concern that is frequently undervalued is effective interpersonal communication skills for building and preserving working relationships. This dynamic can be critical for individual success at work, and ultimately the success of the company. The following are tips for producing favorable results for all concerned.
First, strive to keep good working relationships around you, and recognize there are many small mistakes that can compound if they are not properly managed or avoided entirely. Watch for seemingly small errors in relationship building. Knowing how to deal with interpersonal matters can preserve your job and make your work life, and the work life of those around you, more pleasant.
Second, be aware that some companies have policies concerning relationships between workers. There are usually policies addressing dating, marriage and employment of family members. Do not assume you know the policy where you work. Locate and read the policy in your company's employee handbook or ask the Human Resource Manager for clarification. It is one area you must understand.
It is not unusual for companies to have policies stating that relationships you have during the hours on the job must remain professional at all times. Personal, dating and familial relationships may be prohibited entirely, and if they are allowed by company policy they must be conducted professionally, especially if the involved individuals work closely on a daily basis. However, sometimes in larger organizations where distance and department differentials prevent close proximity of two subject employees, that prohibition might be relaxed by management's consent.
The importance of knowing your company's policy on relationships in the workplace is very important. Do not assume you know the policy where you work. Read the policy in your company's employee handbook or ask the Human Resource Manager if you have questions. It is one area you must clearly understand.
The third area to be concerned with is gossip. Talking about others, which to you may seem to be harmless evaluation, can ruin relationships and be disastrous for interoffice relationships, and potentially affect the company. Gossip can make you look bad and get the person being targeted into trouble for no reason. You should save your gossip and personal evaluation of others for a time when you are outside the workplace. Or better yet, keep you assessments to yourself.
In the event you are bullied by a co-worker, know that the bully cannot harm you. Keeping good notes about the bullying incidences can serve as substantiation for your claim should you decide to take action later. When your notes are complete and prove your complaint, present the information to your supervisor or the company's Human Resources Manager. Usually, they are in a position to better handle the situation for all parties concerned.
In addition to the previously mentioned issues, do not take credit for things you did not do, and quickly speak up when you make mistakes. Do not take from the common facilities such as break room storage and refrigerators, food that belongs to others without their consent. Also, pay for your food and drinks when you're with co-workers outside the office. It's amazing how small matters can swell into monstrous concerns, and it's easy to avoid them by being aware of potential danger zones like these.
Your attention to these areas can minimize many complications. Improving interpersonal communications can improve your work life, and knowing your company's policies is required for appropriate workplace behavior. Although these points are not exhaustive they can help produce an effective and pleasant workplace.

Owning any pet can be all kinds of work to try and domesticate your pet. You want to try to get them to learn how to use the bathroom, eat from their food bowls as well as get them to do things in a proper manner so that they won't ruin your home and just generally create messes all over the place to which your home will just be ruined.
People have now even started owning a domestic duck as pets because they love animals and even want to have ducks be included in the family. I know this may sound a little strange, but it's true, people even own ducks that they keep in the house and train just like any other pet that they might own. Since this is the case people will have to be able to do certain things in order to get their ducks trained well so that they won't ruin homes they live in.
Putting a diaper on your duck is something that you can do to allow your duck to be able to go all around the house without you having to worry about it making messes all over the place and keeping your home clean. The great thing about having a diaper on the duck is that you aren't going to always have to worry about finding surprises left and right in your house and that will take a lot of worry off of your shoulders when or if you decide to get a duck for a pet in your home.
Some people are in the market for breeding ducks and a diaper is a great way to tell your ducks apart if you need to do that. A diaper needs to be the right measurements for your growing duck so that you won't have any kind of restrictions that may be unforeseen as well.
There are plenty of reasons to get diapers for your ducks because you can never be too careful when it comes to your home or your ducks. The ducks are just like any other creature and they can leave a huge mess just like the best of them.

It is always concerning when our hens suddenly stop laying. The first sign of a problem for your girls is when they stop laying eggs. When chickens are lacking something they require egg production is the first thing their bodies shut down in order to make up for what it is lacking. Most of the time it's an easy fix, is the coop clean? Are you feeding the proper food? Sometimes it could more complicated, are my babies sick or are the molting? Let's take a look at the common issues and see what it takes to get the girls happy again.
Chickens have a lifespan of 7 years are in their prime for the first year or two of them laying eggs, after that production rapidly declines until the 4th or 5th year when they usually stop laying altogether. It usually best to replace the laying hen with a new one after their 3rd year of laying eggs.
Chickens are creatures of habit, sometimes the slightest change can throw them off. Moving your hens from one location to another, adding new features or space can stress out your girls. They will not start laying again until they feel relaxed and are comfortable again. Even a dirty pen or coop could throw them off, unsanitary conditions are the best way to for the birds to contract unwanted diseases, especially if the space is too small.
Food / Water:
A dehydrated chicken cannot produce eggs make sure there is always water available for your hens. Using the nipple drinkers help conserve water and keep the coop clean. To produce an egg your girls need a special diet of calcium and proteins. This type of feed is called "layer feed" and comes in many different varieties from different feed or pet stores. Chickens will overeat so monitor the feed based on the number of chickens.
Did the chicken go broody? A broody hen will not lay until she is done hatching her eggs. The girls won't lay when they molt either. Molting is when the chickens are losing their feather due to changes in the weather. It's the same as when a dog shed its fur, except the chicken sheds its feathers. Mites put a lot of strain on a hen's body, she is miserable and won't lay for you. A good sign your chicken is ill or not feeling well is her stance. If she is hunched over instead of standing up and perky she is not feeling well and has problems she probably needs help with.
If a chicken is stressed she won't lay, she needs to feel comfortable. Too many roosters can easily cause stress on your girls. Is there a predator around, is she fearful? Keep your girls happy safe and fed, and she provides you with many eggs to come. Some birds are better layers than others, like the Orpington Chicken that was bread for maximum laying capacity.
